Windows 8.1 Boot To Desktop Skip Start
If you are using a desktop with a larger display, or are just too use to having a Desktop inside of Windows, there is now an easy way to boot right into the Desktop screen instead of your Start Screen. The Start Screen is the “Tile Page” or the “Metro Page”. It goes by a lot of various names. To best describe it, it’s the screen with the large Box Icons (called Tiles).
Create Bootable Windows USB in Linux
Running Linux is great, but at times you will most likely need Microsoft Windows for one reason or another, or at least need to install it to a computer. And the best option to do this is through a flashdrive.
This option works for Windows 8 along with 7 and 8.1. I tested them all out today and have a lot of success with it, and not a single thing went wrong.
Force Chrome Extensions to Update
Updating Chrome Extensions is a very easy task, but because of how Google Chrome worded a few settings and buttons, it may be overlooked. Just to note, Chrome automatically updates Chrome Extensions every few Chrome Restarts. It doesn’t check for updates every time, so if you are noticing issues with an extension I suggest trying to see if they have an update.
Open up Chrome Extensions Page
- Right Click an Extension Button and navigate to “Manage”
- Go to “Settings” and then to “Extensions” on the left sidebar
- Navigate to chrome://extensions
Open up Developer Mode (Not Inspect Element)
On the top right of the Extensions Page, you will see a toggle checkbox for “Delevelper Mode”. Now, this does contain developer tools, but also will display the update button for Extensions.
Tools for Web Developers
If you are working on any website, no matter what size of site, the audience or if it’s the first or last website you are going to be working on, you need a set of tools. I’ve been making sites for a while now, and I have a system in place to make everything run smoothly from website idea to production.
Now, all websites are different so some tools may not be used as often or even at all. But there is a good chance that you will need to use them at some point if you are building multiple websites.
Windows 7 File Extensions Delete
Inside of Windows 7 and Vista, file extensions are iffy… at best. At times file extensions will lose association, start opening in odd programs, icons changing and more. And when the context menu is able to change the default program, a lot of things can still go wrong. Luckily a developer out there has a fix.
There is a script/program by Ramesh Srinivasan of TheWinHelpOnline.com called Unassoc. It does exactly what the name says, Un-associates file extensions. This program is free, portable, single executable and very simple to use. I have used this program so much to resolve issues, I can’t thank him enough, and thought I would share it with all of my readers.
