Disable Google Analytics from Tracking You
With over 65% of the top one-million websites using Google Analytics (according to BuiltWith), it should give you pause and make you think about how all of this information is being used. We even use Google Analytics on GeekThis to view how many visitors frequent each page. If you are unaware, Google Analytics is a website statistics service that tracks and reports traffic. Google Analytics tracks the acquisition of visitors, what pages visitors frequent, how long they spend on each page, and much more. The information that is presented to the website owner doesn’t include personal information, but a lot of information can still be gathered about the visitors (or specific visitor) to a website.
Submit URL to Search Engines Immediately
Submitting your latest blog post or web-page for indexing to the major search engines is the fastest way to get more visitors to your site. When you add a new post or page to your site, it may take a few weeks before search engines get around to crawling and indexing your latest web-page. There is no reason to wait around when you can immediately submit that latest page or post to be indexed.
Fix Windows 10 Account Notification
Recently I deleted my Microsoft account, but then my Windows 10 computer kept complaining with a notification of “You need to fix your Microsoft Account for apps on your other devices to be able to launch apps and continue experiences on this device.” Because I used a local account on my computer instead of a Microsoft account, I was confused on what I needed to change to get this notification to finally leave me alone. I didn’t want to take the easy route of just disabling account notifications because those notifications might be useful sometime in the future.
Add new Search Engine to BlackBerry
Inside of the BlackBerry web browser, instead of typing the address to a website, you can perform a search to a number of default search engines, such as Bing, Google and Yahoo. But there are so many other search engines that are being forgotten. Luckily, it’s easy to add a new search engine to your BlackBerry browser.
BlackBerry uses the OpenSearch standard when adding new search engines, which a lot of sites support, even ones that you don’t imagine are search engines. For instance, YouTube, IMDB, and Twitter all use the OpenSearch standard to register their search, along with tens of thousands of other sites. This allows you to search on YouTube or Twitter without having to first visit their site or perform the search through Google or other standard search engines.
